Rental Agreements
These are not the only rights that you have. For the most part they should be listed and spelled out the details in your rental agreement. If you don’t have a formal written agreement there is a oral agreement between you and the landlord. This makes for some vague and ambiguous circumstances, but you can look to the Texas statues for what’s should be covered in oral agreements too.
There are also some things in the statues that protect you from unscrupulous landlords that fail to return deposits. They also cover deduction of damages to property and advance notice requirements.
